Why Iβm Running
Suicide prevention is personal to me. My mom died by suicide, and Iβve seen what that loss leaves behind.
Running has become one of the ways I work through life. It gives me something to move toward, especially when things feel heavy. This isnβt really about running, though. Itβs about connection, staying active, showing up for each other, and creating a little more hope. The run is just the way I know how to bring those things together.
I'm doing this because running gives me a way to get people's attention and hopefully use that attention for something that matters.
On September 10, I'm going to spend 24 hours running through Charleston for suicide prevention. I want people to come run a mile with me. Meet me somewhere along the route. Share the event. Donate if you can. Check in on somebody you haven't heard from in a while.
I just want the 24 hours to give us a reason to show up for ourselves and each other.
